Meyer Bender ’29 and Stephen Bender ’58 Memorial Scholarship
Paula Burgi
The Meyer Bender ’29 and Stephen Bender ’58 Memorial Scholarship was established in 1981 by the Bender family in honor of Meyer Bender ’29, who graduated from our department and who was one of our most generous and innovative benefactors throughout his life. The scholarship now also honors Meyer’s son, Stephen Bender ’58, who passed away in late 2014. Like his father, Stephen was very dedicated to our department and his alma mater. He was an honored speaker at many of our EAS Commencement Ceremonies.
The Bender Memorial Scholarship is a single year award of $1000 (subject to tax withholding) and is awarded through nominations by faculty and graduate students, including self-nominations. Nominations from graduate students are particularly encouraged.
